This story 'Karunaiyināldhān is a beautiful and short fictional story was written by S. Vaidyalingam who wrote under the pseudonym Prapancham. He was influenced greatly by the Self-Respect Movement. The hero of this story, Kesavan went to take bath in a nearby river and after having taken his bath, when he came out from the river, he saw a few policemen in mufti dress who were standing on the banks of the river waiting patiently to interrogate him and to catch him for the wrongdoings that he had committed. On seeing the policemen, Kesavan very well knew that he had absolutely no scope of escaping from that scene but to quietly and in all sincerity to surrender himself to them. Kesavan however, picked up a great deal of courage and he started to walk silently towards the policemen.
